What's new in DocuWare 7.10

The latest version of DocuWare - 7.10 - has begun to roll out to cloud customers, bringing with it significant developments that will benefit many businesses. The new version for on premise systems will become available later this month. So what can you expect?

Faster Navigation

Users will be able to navigate documents much more quickly with 7.10 as they can now use the mouse scroll wheel to read through multi-page documents and move from document to document, regardless of file type.

This quality of life addition allows users to work more intuitively, with significantly less mouse clicks and much faster finding of specific documents and pages.

Workflow Designer Management

When users make send requests for specific documents - for example for an approval or confirmation - the status of the request is now show in Sent Request list, displaying either Completed or Pending so it's easy to keep track of where requests are up to.

It's now also possible to sort the Sent Request list by the Decision and Status columns.

A further development is the ability to export workflow histories as a CSV file and to view the start and end times of activity in the workflow. This will be ideal for audits where eveidence of processes needs to be provided.

Other improvements include:

  • New endpoints and query parameters for web services
  • Mandatory field and read-only options for entire index tables
  • Workflow Designers can now monitor and stop workflow instances by default, removing the need to add users to the controller role
  • The PATCH method is now available for HTTP request when setting up a web service for a REST API

DocuWare Forms

Calculations in forms have received a boost, allowing for calculations not only in numeric columns within a table but summing columns across multiple tables, other numeric fields within the form and fixed values to create formulas.

Use cases include travel expense and mileage claim forms, order forms and purchase request forms, for example.

Calculations are performed automatically and displayed in the form in real time as it is completed, reducing the chance of human error and saving significant staff time. Calculated values can also be used as index entries, leading to faster processing time too.

There are a host of other improvements surrounding security, digital signatures and more - we will release the full patch notes as soon as we have them.
