DocuWare 7.8 is rolling out - here's what you get

I've been waiting for this for a couple of months now so I'm very excited to see it finally rolling out - DocuWare 7.8 is here!
All new DocuWare Cloud customers will enjoy the benefits that 7.8 brings, while existing customers will see the update very soon, if they haven't already.
This is why I'm excited about it.
Recycle Bin
Have you ever accidentally deleted a document from DocuWare? I know I have. Before 7.8 that document was gone from the system completely and had to be uploaded and stored again.
Now though, whether you delete a document from a Tray or Filing Cabinet, it ends up in the all-new Recycle Bin where it's stored for 30 days before being deleted.
DocuWare users can restore the documents they themselves deleted, whilst those with administrator rights can see and restore all deleted documents.
This seemingly obvious addition to DocuWare potentially removes the need for backups and certainly saves time searching for deleted documents in any backups you do carry out.
Automatic calculations in DocuWare Forms
This is the change I've been waiting for and I can't wait to implement this in our own processes.
With 7.8 DocuWare Forms can now make calculations on the fly based on field entries. One of the best examples where this can be used is employee expenses forms.
Claimants can enter their mileage driven, for example, and with a preconfigured calculation be shown how much they will be claiming back. This total can then be added to other expenses - hotel stays, food and drink, for example - and the employee is shown the total of their expenses claim before they even submit the form.
The results can be transferred to index entries to trigger workflows too - let's say any expenses claims over £500 need approval from the employee's line manager, for example.
This is the most powerful addition to DocuWare for me personally - but it's not the only one. You also get:
- Workflow management: transfer external data to DocuWare index tables and use it for further process automation - for example, for position data comparison of several documents
- Single sign-on: support for OpenID Connect offers more identity providers to choose from
- REST API calls: automatic formatting and validation make it easier for administrators to create webhooks and HTTP queries within workflows
- Language diversity: User interface adds Slovenian and Vietnamese - now available in 24 languages
Read about everything new in 7.8, including use cases, by downloading this document.
DocuWare Cloud systems will be updated automatically over the next few weeks. On premises customers will need to contact us to get upgraded.
Conclusion
DocuWare continues to evolve and improve with much of it driven by requests and ideas from you - the users. If there's something you'd like to see in future versions of DocuWare don't hesitate to contact us and we'll feedback to DocuWare directly on your behalf.
If you'd like to implement any of the new benefits in 7.8 into your existing processes then, again, give us a call.
