Can approvers still receive notifications by email?

Yes. Email notifications are fully supported. Approvers can also use the DocuWare app on iOS or Android to view, approve, or reject directly from their phone.

Can we have different approval chains for different document types or values?

Yes - routing rules are fully configurable by document type, value, supplier, department, or any other indexed field.

What happens if an approver is on leave?

Automatic escalation rules handle this - overdue approvals are routed to a nominated deputy or fallback approver based on rules you set up at implementation.
